:eek:I've just realized after putting my MSA-R together that I haven't a clue about SysEx! And it may as well be rocket science! Are all the messages exclusively written for each particular piece of equipment out there or are there basic messages the can be adapted to suit? I have downloaded SysEx Librarian and managed to upload to it a SysEx example from the highly-liquid support page which in turn I managed to upload to the MSA-R but don't know what it does! Right now I would like a simple SysEx message to tell the outputs to switch on and off momentarily so that I can check the whole thing is functioning with some LED's.:( Have been tricking about now and able to use hexedit to write Example 3-3 from the MSA-R firmware manual but can't seem to get it to upload! I'm afraid I'm in my infancy to do with this stuff! Thanks!!

Just managed to learn enough to sort it out!!:) As the LED on the MSA-R blinks with incoming midi there's also sound to accompany it! Could this be from the relays? Can anyone recommend a good site for learning about SysEx in relation to using Highly Liquid's midi decoders?:)

If it's a small "ping" sound, it's the relays initializing. It's probably because some were in the "on" state when the SysEx was sent, or because the SysEx you're using sets the default state of some of them to "on".

This is it. ;) If you can, why don't you post the SysEx message that you used (written out in text, if you can), and we will analyze & adapt it to suit your needs.

By the way, for anyone wondering, the SysEx howto page is here: http://highlyliquid.com/support/library/midi-sysex/
This page is helpful too: http://highlyliquid.com/support/library/midi-note-numbers/
