Ok so im pretty new to the modding of the atari 2600,however all i need to do it is run audio out to a 1/4 jack on my console leaving me able to jam the synth cart with no tv....i saw the audio out solder spot on the site but im used to circuit bending where the audio out simply comes from the positive nad negetive of the speaker in the toy or whatever it is im bending.so how does running audio out on the 2600 vary from running it out of the pos/neg on the speaker and why is the picture only showing me 1 solder mark???is that mark a postive and the console the negetive??!!<br>someone help me!!!
Hi there,
Your phone jack has two contacts: "tip" and "sleeve".
Tip -> Console audio out point from diagram
Sleeve -> Console ground.
Console ground is easy to find...it is connected to the negative terminal of the DC power supply, and also to pin #8 of the joystick connectors.
Hope this helps.

Yes. Google and Wikipedia are very useful.
See "Tip/ring/sleeve terminology" here:

still a little confused about one thing
ok so the tip and the sleeve are like the point and the shaft on a male 1/4 inch cable now when im wiring up a 1/4 inch female jack on the back side u got the longer metal pin which is what the male end touches once it connects and u got the other 2 pins.now are those the tip and sleeve?? and which one is which??

The contact that meets the tip is the tip. The part that touches the sleeve (the cylindrical part) is the sleeve. Hope that helps. ;)
