hi. i have problem with retrofit midi in my yamaha cso1.

i mounted everything and everything is ok except one thing

when i connect my cs01 to my computer (pc, cubase daw, motu audio/midi
interface) and start playing midi track i get sometimes double notes (the
same pitch) from my cs01. when i rewind to the same spot and play again
usually i don't get that additional note. i also get from time to time
random note in different pitch.

please help

Hi Marek,

This is interesting. I received your email and mp3.

In the case of the UMR, the CPU on certain host keyboards scans the keys "too quickly" for the UMR to accurately "fake" a keypress 100% of the time. The result can be exactly what you describe.

The CS01-MIDI is based on the UMR board and works the same way. What's strange is that yours is the only such report I've had about the CS01-MIDI. The performance usually seems (and in my experience has been) without such problems.

What variety of CS01 do you have? Is there a revision # marked on the CS01 circuit board?

There may not be a solution to this, other than to sequence & record additional "takes" if the first one results in a double note.

its gray CS01. no revision # inside (or i can't find it). serial number is: 37734.

so that behaviour is not my fault? its not because i messed something up or retrofit is broken?

do you think it will act the same if i connect it to different midi interface?

Hi Marek,

I don't think there's any problem with your installation, and I don't think your CS01-MIDI in particular is problematic. I'm pretty familiar with the symptom you're describing--it happens with the UMR with certain keyboard models. (These are the models that are noted to have a "slightly flawed MIDI response" on the installation page.) But I haven't had any reports of it with the CS01-MIDI--after a fairly large number of sales.

Another guess--is your MIDI interface sending any data other than the notes specifically intended for the CS01? If so, try sending only the notes intended for the CS01, and see if it makes a difference.
