View Full Version : No power?

I received a MIDI CPU on Wednesday. The first thing I did was to attach 10.33 volts DC to the + and - power terminals, ensuring proper polarity. I have tested the voltage to be certain that it is present on the board and it is.

If I understand the instructions properly, the "ACT" LED should illuminate for a couple seconds. This does not happen for me and after attaching a diode matrix of 32 contacts, nothing happens.

I have also installed pin headers in the holes that I am using. They were super tight but I managed to post them through and solder them.

Thanks in advance for any advise!

can you check to see if you have any activity from the midi out port ?

Thanks

There is no activity on the MIDI out port. I am absolutely certain that power is getting to the board. Perhaps I could return the board for testing?

Hi megafisc, welcome, and thank you for your patience.

Can you confirm that the voltage across the MIDI CPU DC REG "G" and "+" terminals is 5V?

If this is the case, and if the activity LED does not light briefly when the board is powered up, then please go ahead and return the board to the address on the contact page. Please send a PM to make arrangements for a replacement unit.

You are also welcome to post a photo of your wiring, if you like. There is more information about the basic MIDI CPU functionality tests here:

Generally speaking, it is wise to do the basic tests before advanced control wiring. Any attached switch matrix will not trigger output until the MIDI CPU is configured via SysEx message--have you reconfigured your MIDI CPU for switch matrix input?
