Default UMR for SK-1

Hello,

I have successfully added midi to my Sk-1 using the UMR kit. I would like to detail the more interesting parts of my experience.
  • I forgot to order hookup cable. I happened to have some extra cat-5 ethernet cable, so I was able to break that apart and use it. It worked fine.
  • The first time I hooked up the scaning wires, I hooked them to the array at the top left, instead of the array at the top right. This was a big pain for me to figure out, as the pin markings on the casio circuit board were obscured by a flux/dirt smudge.
  • You may want open your sk before you begin, so that you can get an idea of how long the hook up wires should be. It is a hassle if your wires are too long.

The product worked just as I expected it for midi notes, however, I would be interested in obtaining a SKM kit (not produced at this time) , because I like the idea of having features to change the instrument, and trigger sample record and sample play.

I am also interested if it is possible to change the nodes of where the power is supplied to the UMR, to make the UMR automatically power off when the sk1 is powered off.

Overall, 9/10, thanks highly liquid for making a kick ass product.

Thanks for all of your feedback. If you're still interested in an SKM, send an email--I may have a "surplus" board around that I can sell to you.
