Question A tutorial on how to fully use a Midispeak equipped Speak&xxx?

Hi,
I have a Speak&Maths and I feel that I haven't uncovered all its secrets and how to get the most out of it yet... I get nice glitches but most of them look alike and are long glitches, hense difficult to mix to a rhythm pattern... (I'm using both software and hardware sequencers)
Is there a tutorial somewhere? Or could a specialist think about making one?

(PS : I also have S&S, membrane and pushbutton, and a S&R that I'm going to try with the Midispeak as I had the kit externally housed...)

[EDIT]
I tried with the pushbutton S&S and yeah, that's it! Farrrrr better. Nice colorful glitches. But still an issue : when playing notes through a keyboard (USB keyboard plugged to the computer, using Logic Pro) everything's fine. But when I write a pattern on the sequencer, it only triggers the S&S every two mesures, even if there are plenty of notes in between!... Is there some kind of setup to make? a "note off" message issue?...
Well, another argument in favor of a tutorial... ;-)

Hi Tupinamba, welcome.

There is no tutorial that I am aware of.

My best advice is trial and error. Some notes should trigger shorter sounds that are more suitable for drum sequencing.

One thing to look out for--each MIDI bank/note should trigger a "repeatable" sound. If the same note triggers a different sound each time, you may have better luck trying a Speak & Spell instead. Some Speak & Maths have an incompatibility whereby the MIDISpeak does not trigger the same sound each time the same note is received.

Hi John,

Thanks for your fast answer ! I'm glad to be aboard...
I tried the pushbutton S&S indeed and it is far better ! The only problem is with my software sequencer : if I play a pattern with a USB midi keyboard connected to the sequencer, all the notes I play produce a sound. But if I midi-record the exact same sequence, only the first note every two mesures will trigger a sound in the S&S. Do you have any clue?

Cheers,

Tupinamba

Hmm, I don't have any idea what would cause that, sorry. My guess is that this is some sort of problem outside the MIDISpeak, since the "live play" with the keyboard does not exhibit the same problem...
