No word yet if the UMR2 can be used for the Yamaha CS-30?

Hi zerommbb44, welcome to the forum and sorry for the slow response. Can you post just an image of the keyboard matrix schematic? That will help a great deal.

Every Thing that involves the keyboard from the service manual I attached to this post. It should be Yamaha-CS-30-Service-Manual 20 and Yamaha-CS-30-Service-Manual (dragged) 5.

and This one. Nothing more in the service manual. If you need the service manual I could give you that as well. but In my first post I added all the pages that show or speak about the keyboard. The Yamaha CS-30 is from 1977.

I hope this helps you as no one makes a midi kit for the CS-30 and I rather not control it from its CV/Gate inputs to free them up for my modular. Thanks

Based on the voltage levels used in the keyboard circuitry, this would be a challenge to interface with the UMR2. Level-shifting would have to be used for the UMR2 i/o lines. If you have the MIDI-to-CV option, that would be a much cleaner way to get the job done.

Thanks for the help. I thought it might be hard. I was hoping to save some cash with the UMR and have a clean install but I guess this gives me an excuse to get a Kenton Pro 2000 as I have 3 other synths that need CV/Gate to midi conversions as well. Thanks again.
