Default rom/keypad modes

hi, just wondering if these two modes are two separate types of installation? ie only one can be installed per unit?

thanks.

You are correct. If you take a look at the installation instructions, you'll see that the same i/o terminals on the MIDISpeak have different connection points, depending on the mode of the installation.

For almost all users, ROM Mode is much more useful and is strongly recommended.

Why do you say "recommended"?
I don't know wich mode to choose. Could you explain what will be the difference between the both?
For know i understand that with the "ROM" mode, we have access to all the sound banks. Not more.
I the "keypad" mode, i anderstand that we'll have access to a part of soound bank, and will have glitch fonctionalities...

Thanks for your reply!

ROM mode is recommended...by me.

Keypad mode is similar to pressing buttons on the speak. You can get some glitch sounds just as you would with circuit bending.

ROM mode can access the sound banks, yes. But many of the notes will trigger speech from "incorrect" ROM addresses, meaning that you can get a large variety of very "glitchy" sounds, in addition to actual words. Plus, even the "glitchy" sounds are repeatable via MIDI.

Trust me...ROM mode is superior in just about every way. (Keypad mode was developed first, and was left in the design as an extra...for no particular reason.)

All sound samples on the product page were generated with ROM mode.

Hope this helps.
