Unhappy Complete Newbie question re: Midi

Hi all, great forum with some fantastic projects!

A friend and I are looking to make some of my on guitar related midi equipment, namely an effects looper and rack wah/rack volume. However, I have no idea where to start.

My friend is great with electronics, but has not used midi before. I was hoping that I could delve into the midi programming side of things (thus making me feel a bit more useful!).

The Highly Liquid products look fantastic, judging by the projects seen on the forum and blogs.

How do I go about learning midi programming? Can anyone recommend any articles/books/software?

Help in any form would be greatly appreciated...

Many thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex, welcome to the forum.

For MIDI info, did you find this thread?

http://forum.highlyliquid.com/showthread.php?t=95

The links there will lead to anything and everything you need for building MIDI stuff.

Of course, if you use an HL product, you don't have to be a MIDI expert. Things will become pretty simple once you get started.

The MSA is the product you'd likely use for this project. You can see lots of MIDI configuration examples in the MSA forum:

A "classic" project is the iPatch effect looper:

If you ask, you might get some very useful information from the thread author.

Does this help? If I missed the mark, let me know.
